In this
post, Im going to talk about one of the characters that I admire. Some consider him
the best president in the history of Chile. He is Pedro Aguirre Cerda.
He was born
in Pocuro, Valparaíso in 1879, and died in Santiago in 1941, exercising the
presidency. He died due to tuberculosis. He died being very popular, so much that
after he died a district was founded in his name. It is popularly known as "Don
Tinto", because of its link with the wine industry.
In his
management, he made the production of the country grow, creating CORFO. He made
the Chilean territory grow, since in his government he claimed the Chilean
territory in the Antarctic. . But, mainly in his government, education was
encouraged, with the motto of "Governing is Education". He also had
to take charge of the 1939 earthquake.
I like it
because he is an example of efficient Public Administration. However, it must
be said that it was another era.
